Bright Beginnings has been in operation since 1999.
Bright Beginnings is part of Healthy Child Manitoba’s Parent-Child Centred approach that brings together community strengths and resources to support community-based programs and activities for children and families. There are 26 funded coalitions province wide that are entrusted to support programs and manage funds in accordance with the vision, goals and guiding principles of Healthy Child Manitoba.
Healthy Child Manitoba has provided funding to the North Eastman Parent-Child Centred Coalition to support projects that ensure Manitoba children will be physically and emotionally healthy, safe and secure, successful at learning, and socially engaged and responsible.
Bright Beginnings operates within the North Eastman Health Association districts of Blue Water, Northern, Brokenhead River, Iron Rose, Springfield, and Winnipeg River. It incorporates seven municipalities, one local government district, five towns or villages, eight First Nations communities (five fly-in and three non-fly-in), plus unorganized territory including part of the Whiteshell Provincial Park. (see map — click to enlarge).
Membership in the Coalition consists of key stakeholders in the North Eastman region including parents and community members; Sunrise School Division, School District of Whiteshell, Frontier School Division, North Eastman Heath Association, Manitoba Child Care Program, Network 4 Change, Wings of Power and Mrs. Lucci’s Family Resource Centre. We continue to seek further membership from such organizations as Child and Family Services, advocates for children’s disabilities, aboriginal organizations, local churches, and local government.
Bright Beginnings has grant money available to provide additional support and resources to community groups/organizations within the boundaries of the Coalition.
